How to Connect and Use Zoom with Zipper

Connect Zoom to Zipper, create meeting links for virtual classes, publish cloud recordings to your on-demand library, and safely remove the integration.

8-step guide

The Zipper app for Zoom helps studios run virtual and hybrid classes without manually creating and distributing a new meeting for every session. An authorized Zipper organization can:

  • Create a scheduled Zoom meeting for each class session
  • Give everyone one shared join link or use Zoom Registration for per-attendee links
  • Copy the generated meeting link from Zipper
  • Import a completed Zoom cloud recording into the Zipper Video Library
  • Give registered attendees access to the recording for a set number of days

This guide explains how to add, use, troubleshoot, and remove the app.

Before You Begin

You need:

  • A Zipper owner or admin account with permission to manage organization integrations
  • The Zoom integration enabled for your Zipper organization
  • A paid Zoom account (Pro or higher) with cloud recording enabled
  • Permission to authorize Marketplace apps and manage meetings on the Zoom account
  • The Zipper Video Library feature if you want recordings imported into Zipper

Your Zoom administrator may need to pre-approve Zipper before you can connect it. If the Zoom tile or recording options are unavailable, contact Zipper Support.

Add Zipper to Your Zoom Account

  1. Sign in to your Zipper admin account.
  2. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  3. Under Org integrations, find Zoom and click Connect.
  4. If prompted, sign in to the Zoom account that will host your classes.
  5. Review the permissions shown by Zoom, then click Allow.
  6. Zoom returns you to Zipper. The Zoom integration should now show as Connected.

The connection is shared by your Zipper organization, so each staff member does not need to connect a separate Zoom account.

If you cannot complete authorization, jump to Troubleshooting.

Use Zoom for a Virtual or Hybrid Class

Choose Zoom as the meeting provider

  1. In Zipper, go to Schedule > Calendar.
  2. Create a class, or open an existing class and choose its edit option.
  3. Set the class or timeslot location type to Virtual or Hybrid.
  4. In Virtual Meeting, select Zoom as the provider.

Zipper offers two session-link options:

  • Use one URL for every session — paste a Zoom meeting URL you created yourself. Every session uses that same URL. Zipper does not create or manage this meeting in Zoom.
  • Auto-create a Zoom meeting for each session — Zipper creates and schedules a separate Zoom meeting for every class session. Choose this option to use the connected Zoom app and automatic recording import.

When Zipper creates the meetings, choose a meeting-link type:

  • Shared link — every attendee receives the same Zoom join URL.
  • Per-attendee link — Zoom Registration is enabled and each registered attendee receives an individual join URL.

Save the class after choosing your settings. For auto-created meetings, Zipper uses the class name, start time, and duration when scheduling each Zoom meeting. If those class details change, Zipper updates the associated meeting.

Save a Class Recording to the Video Library

Automatic recording import requires an auto-created Zoom meeting and the Zipper Video Library feature.

  1. In the class’s Virtual Meeting settings, select Zoom.
  2. Select Auto-create a Zoom meeting for each session.
  3. Turn on Save recording to on-demand library.
  4. Set the Re-watch window. The default is 14 days, and the minimum is one day.
  5. Optionally choose the Video category where recordings should appear.
  6. Save the class.

Zipper-created meetings are configured for Zoom cloud recording. After the class ends and Zoom finishes processing the recording, Zipper:

  1. Downloads the completed MP4 from Zoom.
  2. Uploads a copy to your Zipper Video Library.
  3. Links the video to the class and selected category.
  4. Gives each active, non-waitlisted registrant access until the re-watch window expires.

The re-watch window begins when the recording ends. The video can take additional time to appear while Zoom processes the cloud recording and Zipper prepares it for playback.

Zipper does not delete the original cloud recording from Zoom after importing it. Manage that original recording and its retention from your Zoom account.

Remove the Zipper App from Zoom

For a complete disconnect, remove the integration in both Zipper and Zoom.

Disconnect Zoom in Zipper

  1. Sign in to your Zipper admin account.
  2. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  3. Find the connected Zoom integration and open Manage.
  4. Click Remove integration.

This deletes the saved Zoom authorization credentials from Zipper and prevents Zipper from making new Zoom API requests.

Remove Zipper from the Zoom App Marketplace

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
  2. Click Manage in the upper-right corner.
  3. Open Added Apps, or search for Zipper.
  4. Select Zipper.
  5. Click Remove and confirm.

Removing the app in Zoom revokes Zipper’s access to your Zoom account. If you remove it only in Zoom, also use Remove integration in Zipper to clear the saved connection from your Zipper organization.

What happens after removal

  • Zipper can no longer create, update, or remove meetings in the connected Zoom account.
  • Future cloud recordings will not be imported into Zipper.
  • Meetings already created in Zoom remain there until you delete them in Zoom. Existing join links may therefore continue to work.
  • Class settings and meeting references already stored in Zipper are not automatically deleted.
  • Videos already copied into the Zipper Video Library remain in Zipper and keep their existing access rules. You can manage or delete them from the Video Library.
  • Original cloud recordings remain subject to your Zoom account’s retention settings.
  • Removing the integration does not delete your Zipper organization, customers, classes, registrations, or billing data.

To reconnect later, return to Settings > Integrations, click Connect on the Zoom tile, and authorize the app again.

Troubleshooting

The Zoom tile is missing

Confirm that you are signed in as a Zipper owner or admin and that your role can manage organization integrations. The Zoom feature must also be enabled for your Zipper organization. Contact Zipper Support if you meet those requirements but still do not see it.

Zoom says the app needs administrator approval

Your Zoom account may restrict Marketplace app installation. Ask a Zoom owner or administrator to pre-approve Zipper, then repeat the connection steps.

Zoom does not show as connected after authorization

Return to Settings > Integrations and try Connect again. Confirm that you completed the Zoom authorization screen and did not close the page before it returned to Zipper. If the problem continues, contact Zipper Support with the name of your Zipper organization and the approximate time of the attempt.

A Zoom meeting was not created

Check that:

  • Zoom still shows as connected under Settings > Integrations
  • The class is Virtual or Hybrid
  • Zoom is the selected provider
  • Auto-create a Zoom meeting for each session is selected
  • The class or schedule change was saved

If the connection has expired, open the Zoom integration and click Re-authorize.

A recording is missing from the Video Library

Confirm all of the following:

  • Your Zoom plan supports cloud recording and cloud recording is enabled
  • The session used a meeting that Zipper created automatically
  • Save recording to on-demand library was enabled before the session
  • The host started the meeting and the cloud recording completed successfully in Zoom
  • The Zipper Video Library feature is enabled

Zoom must finish processing the recording before Zipper can import it. If it is complete in Zoom but still missing from Zipper, contact Zipper Support with the class name, date, and meeting ID.

An attendee cannot watch a recording

Recording access is limited to active registrants who were not on the waitlist, and it expires after the configured re-watch window. Confirm the customer was registered for that class session and that their access window is still open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Choose Use one URL for every session and paste the full Zoom URL. The connected app is required only when Zipper needs to create or manage Zoom meetings or import their recordings.

Can I use another video platform?

Yes. Select Other as the provider and paste the full meeting URL. Zoom-specific meeting creation and recording import are unavailable for other providers.

Does disconnecting Zoom delete existing meetings or recordings?

No. Existing Zoom meetings and original Zoom cloud recordings remain in Zoom, and videos already imported into Zipper remain in the Zipper Video Library. Delete those items separately if you no longer need them.

What Zoom data does Zipper use?

While connected, Zipper stores encrypted authorization credentials and the meeting identifiers and join URLs needed to manage class meetings. When recording import is enabled, Zipper downloads the completed Zoom recording and stores a copy in your Zipper Video Library. See the Zipper Privacy Policy for more information about how Zipper handles personal data.
