How to Create an SMS Campaign

Before You Begin

• Login to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
• Ensure you have owner or admin permissions
• Have Twilio integration connected (required for SMS sending)
• Have at least one contact list with recipients, or individual customers to send to

Steps

Step 1: Create a campaign

1. Go to Marketing > SMS
2. Click Create campaign

Step 2: Enter campaign message

1. Message (required) — keep to 160 characters when possible; longer messages are split automatically into multiple texts. Include opt-out instructions (e.g., “Reply STOP to opt out.”)

Step 3: Select recipients

Choose who to send to:

• Contact list — select a list, optionally filter by subscription status
• Individual customers — select one or more customers directly

Step 4: Test your SMS (recommended)

1. Click Send test SMS, enter your phone number, and click Send test
2. Review message content; adjust if needed

Step 5: Send or schedule

1. Choose Send now or Schedule (set a specific date and time)
2. Click Send (or Schedule)

Tracking Campaign Performance

Go to Marketing > SMS → select your campaign to view delivery status, delivery rates, and carrier status. Use Recipient details for individual delivery status or export analytics data.

Troubleshooting

No “Create campaign” button? Only owners and admins can create campaigns — contact your organization owner.

Can’t send SMS? Verify Twilio is connected, your contact list has recipients, and your message content is valid.

SMS messages not being delivered? Check that Twilio is active, recipient phone numbers are valid, and recipients haven’t opted out.

No delivery tracking? Delivery tracking requires Twilio integration; carrier status may take time to update and some carriers don’t provide detailed status.
