How to Reorder Questions in a Form

Learn how to reorder form questions to control the order in which they appear to customers. Question order affects the form flow and user experience.

Before You Begin

  • You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
  • You need permission to manage forms (typically organization owners and admins have this permission)
  • A form created with multiple questions

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Form

  1. Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
  2. From the dashboard, click Forms in the left sidebar
  3. Find the form you want to reorder
  4. Click on the form to open it

What happens next: You’ll see the form editor.

Step 2: Edit Form

  1. On the form page, click Edit (or find edit option)
  2. The form editor will open

What happens next: You’ll see form questions and editing options.

Step 3: View Question List

  1. See all questions:

    • View list of questions in the form
    • Questions appear in current order
    • Each question is displayed
  2. Question order:

    • Current order determines display sequence
    • First question appears first
    • Last question appears last

Note: Question order determines how questions appear to customers.

Step 4: Reorder Questions

  1. Drag and drop to reorder:

    • Click and hold on a question
    • Drag it to the desired position
    • Drop it in the new location
    • Questions reorder automatically
  2. Or use up/down arrows (if available):

    • Click up arrow to move question earlier
    • Click down arrow to move question later
    • Questions move one position at a time

Note: Reorder questions to create the best flow for customers.

Step 5: Review New Order

  1. Check question sequence:

    • Review the new order
    • Ensure logical flow
    • Verify questions make sense in order
  2. Order considerations:

    • Put essential questions first (name, email)
    • Group related questions together
    • Place optional questions later
    • Create natural flow

Note: Review order to ensure it creates a good user experience.

Step 6: Save Form

  1. Review your question order:
    • Questions are in desired order
    • Flow makes sense
    • Order is correct
  2. Click Save (or Save Form)
    • Question order will be saved
    • You’ll see a confirmation
  3. New order will take effect immediately

What happens next: Question order will be saved and:

  • Questions appear in the new order
  • Form flow follows the new sequence
  • Customers see questions in updated order
  • Order is applied to all form submissions

Tips

  • Put essential questions first (name, email, etc.)
  • Group related questions together
  • Place optional questions later in the form
  • Create logical flow from general to specific
  • Test form to ensure order works well

Troubleshooting

Problem: I can’t drag and drop questions Solution: Check that:

  • You’re in edit mode
  • Drag and drop is enabled
  • Form editor is working correctly

Solution: Make sure you’re editing the form. Try refreshing the page if drag and drop isn’t working.

Problem: Questions aren’t reordering Solution: Check that:

  • You’re saving the form after reordering
  • Form editor is working correctly
  • Changes are being applied

Solution: Verify you’re saving the form after reordering. Check that changes are applied.

Problem: I don’t see up/down arrows Solution: Drag and drop may be the primary method:

  • Use drag and drop to reorder
  • Or check if arrows are available in field settings

Solution: Use drag and drop to reorder questions. Arrows may not be available for all form editors.

Problem: Order isn’t saving Solution: Check that:

  • Form is being saved correctly
  • Changes are applied before saving
  • Form editor is working

Solution: Verify form is saved after reordering. Check that changes are applied before saving.
