How to Move a Lead to a Different Stage
Learn how to move leads between workflow stages to track their progress through your sales pipeline. Moving leads helps you manage the sales process and understand where each lead is in the funnel.
How to Move a Lead to a Different Stage
Before You Begin
- Login to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
- Ensure you have owner or admin permissions
- Have a lead in a workflow with multiple stages
Steps
Step 1: Open the lead
- Go to Contacts > Lead Tracking
- Find the lead and click it to open its details
Step 2: Move to a new stage
- Click Move to Stage (or open the stage selector)
- Select the new stage
Step 3: Add a journey step (optional)
Enter notes about the stage change (e.g., “Called customer, discussed needs”). Journey steps are recorded immutably in the timeline.
Step 4: Save
Click Save (or Move to Stage). The lead moves to the new stage and the journey step is recorded.
Troubleshooting
“Move to Stage” option not visible? Confirm you’re viewing lead details (not the list view) and that you have permission to manage leads.
Can’t select a stage? Confirm the workflow has active stages defined.
Lead didn’t move? Confirm the stage change was saved and refresh the pipeline view.
Journey step not recorded? Confirm the step was entered and saved along with the stage change.
