How to Migrate Customers and Subscriptions
Learn how to migrate customers and subscriptions from competitor platforms like Stripe, MindBody, and Glofox into Zipper. This guide covers importing customers, transferring payment methods, setting up family relationships, and bulk managing subscriptions.
How to Migrate Customers and Subscriptions
Before You Begin
- Login to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
- Ensure you have owner or admin permissions
- For Stripe migrations: connect your Stripe account to Zipper
- For MindBody/Glofox migrations: export customer data with barcode IDs, and transfer payment account numbers to Stripe first
- Create products in Zipper that match the products from your previous platform
Steps
Step 1: Open the Customer Import
- Go to Contacts > Customers
- Click Import — this opens the import interface at https://app.joinzipper.com/dashboard/crm-import
Step 2: Choose import source and start
Select your source — Stripe, File (CSV), or External Import (MindBody/Glofox) — then click Start Import. The system fetches data and creates import items for review.
Step 3: Review and edit import items
- Check customer information (email, name, phone, custom fields) and edit any item by clicking it
- Select items to import using checkboxes, Select All, or filters
Step 4: Configure subscriptions (optional)
- Click Bulk actions > Add Subscriptions
- Select products to assign and configure start dates, pricing, discounts, and payment methods
- Click Save
Step 5: Customize welcome email (optional)
- Click Customize welcome email
- Edit the template using variables:
{{customerName}},{{subscriptionDetails}},{{orgName}} - Click Save
Step 6: Process the import
Click Import Selected or Import All. The system creates customer profiles, adds payment methods, starts subscriptions, and creates booking credits. A summary shows successful imports and any errors when complete.
Step 7: Review import results
- Check the summary for error items — click errors to see details, fix issues, and retry
- Go to Contacts > Customers to verify imported customer profiles and active subscriptions
Step 8: Send welcome emails (optional)
Select customers and click Send Welcome Emails Selected or Send Welcome Emails All.
Step 9: Arrange family relationships (MindBody/Glofox only)
- On the import job page, click Arrange Families
- Review detected parent/child relationships and confirm — the system creates guardian relationships
Troubleshooting
Import option not visible? You must be an organization owner or admin.
“Product not found” errors? Create the missing products in Zipper before importing.
Customers created but subscriptions not started? Subscription details were not configured in Step 4. Start subscriptions manually using bulk subscription tools.
Payment methods not transferring? For MindBody/Glofox, confirm payment account numbers were transferred to Stripe first and barcode IDs match between competitor data and Stripe metadata.
Family relationships not created? Verify family relationship data was included in your export. You can create family relationships manually in Contacts > Customers.
Welcome emails not sending? Confirm email addresses are valid and your organization has email sending configured.
