How to Manage Customer Credit Balance
Learn how to add, view, and use customer credit balance. Credit balance allows customers to have store credit on their account that can be used for purchases at Point-of-Sale and drop-in payments.
How to Manage Customer Credit Balance
Before You Begin
- Login to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
- Ensure you have owner or admin permissions
- Ensure the customer exists in your customer list
Steps
Step 1: Open the customer profile
- Go to Contacts > Customers
- Search for the customer and click their name
Step 2: Add credit
- Find the Credit Balance section on the customer profile
- Click Add Credit or Adjust Balance
- Enter the amount and a reason, then click Save
Credit is added immediately and logged for audit.
Step 3: Use credit at Point-of-Sale
- Open Point-of-Sale and select the customer
- Add items to the cart
- At checkout, select Credit Balance as the payment method
- If the credit is less than the total, apply it first and pay the remainder with another method
Step 4: Use credit for drop-in payments
Process the drop-in as normal — credit balance is offered as a payment option automatically. Selecting it deducts the amount and registers the customer.
How Credit Balance Works
- Credit is available immediately at Point-of-Sale and for drop-in class payments
- Can be combined with other payment methods
- Does not expire by default
- Full transaction history is visible on the customer profile
Troubleshooting
Credit balance isn’t showing at Point-of-Sale? Confirm the customer is selected and has a credit balance. Verify the credit balance feature is enabled for your organization.
Credit was deducted but transaction failed? Review the transaction in customer history and check Point-of-Sale transaction logs to confirm whether the deduction occurred.
Disputed credit balance amount? Review the credit transaction history on the customer profile to see all additions and deductions.
Can’t add credit to a customer account? Confirm you have permission to manage customers and that the credit management feature is available for your organization.
