Learn how to assign appointment types to locations so customers know where appointments take place. Locations can be physical addresses, virtual meeting links, or hybrid options.
Before You Begin
- You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
- You need permission to manage schedules (typically organization owners and admins have this permission)
- A location created (physical, virtual, or hybrid)
- An appointment type to configure
Steps
Step 1: Create Location (If Needed)
- Create a location first (if you haven’t already):
- Go to Organization Management → Locations (or Settings → Locations)
- Click Add Location or Create Location
- Enter location details:
- Name: Location name
- Type: Physical, virtual, or hybrid
- Address: Physical address (if physical)
- Meeting Link: Virtual meeting link (if virtual)
- Save the location
Important: Create locations before assigning them to appointment types.
Step 2: Navigate to Appointment Types
- Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
- From the dashboard, click Calendar in the left sidebar
- Click Manage (or go to https://app.joinzipper.com/dashboard/calendar/manage)
- Click the Appointment types tab
- You’ll see your appointment types
Step 3: Select Appointment Type
- Find the appointment type you want to configure
- Click on the appointment type to open it
- Or click Edit next to the appointment type
What happens next: The appointment type edit form will open.
Step 4: Find Location Section
- In the appointment type edit form, find the Location section or dropdown
- This section contains:
- Location selection dropdown
- Location configuration options
- Location display settings
Note: Location selection is typically in the appointment type details section.
Step 5: Select Location

Select the location from the Location dropdown:
- Click the Location dropdown
- Browse available locations
- Select the location you want to assign
- Locations include physical addresses, virtual links, and hybrid options

Location types:
- Physical: Shows physical address to customers
- Virtual: Shows meeting link to customers
- Hybrid: Shows both address and meeting link
Note: Select the location where appointments for this type will take place.
Step 6: Save Changes
- Review your location selection:
- Correct location is selected
- Location matches where appointments occur
- Click Save
- Location assignment will be saved
- You’ll see a confirmation
- Location assignment will take effect immediately
What happens next: Location will be assigned and:
- Location appears in appointment type details
- Customers see location when booking
- Location is shown in appointment confirmations
- Location information is displayed in customer app
How Location Assignment Works
When a location is assigned:

During booking:
- Location is shown to customers
- Customers see address or meeting link
- Location helps customers know where to go

In appointment details:
- Location is displayed in appointment information
- Customers can view location details
- Location is included in confirmations

For virtual appointments:
- Meeting link is provided
- Customers can access virtual appointments
- Link is included in confirmations
Tips
- Assign locations that match where appointments actually occur
- Use virtual locations for online appointments
- Use physical locations for in-person appointments
- Update locations if appointment locations change
- Create multiple locations for different appointment types
Troubleshooting
Problem: I don’t see the Location dropdown Solution: Check that:
- You’re editing the appointment type (not just viewing)
- Location section exists in the form
- You have permission to manage schedules
Solution: Make sure you’re editing the appointment type. Contact your organization owner if you need access.
Problem: I don’t have any locations Solution: Create locations first:
- Go to Organization Management → Locations
- Click Add Location
- Create physical, virtual, or hybrid locations
- Then assign them to appointment types
Solution: Create locations before assigning them to appointment types.
Problem: Location isn’t showing to customers Solution: Check that:
- Location is selected and saved
- Appointment type is assigned to a provider’s schedule
- Provider has availability set up
Solution: Verify location is saved and appointment type is properly configured.
Problem: I want to change the location Solution: Edit the appointment type:
- Select a different location from the dropdown
- Save changes
- New location will be assigned
Solution: Edit appointment type and select a different location.
